  1. Dear Colleagues, Following the HSMP forums's recent victory, the Home Office is now creating another obstacle for skilled immigrants. A new bill regarding prolonging the duration of stay from 5 years to 8 years (or probationary citizenship) is being introduced in the parliament on 2nd June. To act against this, we need to contact our local MPs as recommended by the HSMP forum. These steps are to ensure that the local MPs are aware of this issue prior to it being presented in the parliament. Please follow the steps below. I have already done this. 1) Go to www.hsmpforumltd.com 2) On the right hand side of the page, click on Draft Letter for Your MP 3) Copy this letter on your clipboard then go back to the first page and on the right hand side, click on Your MP's contact details 4)Then put your post code to find out who your MP is. Click on your MPs name (not Councillor or MEPs) 5) On the new page, put your own details and then paste the copied letter onto the template for your MP and after editting it accordingly (your MP's name, your name etc) please submit it. 6) After sending the letter to your MP, on the next page you will receive a message stating that you have to check your email to confirm that you want the letter to be sent. once you do so, the letter will be sent. IMPORTANT: IT MAY FEEL THAT THIS IS A WASTE OF TIME. BUT IT IS NOT. I GOT MY JOB BACK IN 2007 BECAUSE OF MY LOCAL MP ANGELA EAGLE BY CONTACTING HER VIA THIS ROUTE. THEY LISTEN AND THEY ACTUALLY WRITE BACK TO YOU. She did in my case. WE HAVE TO HELP OUR OWN CAUSE! We are Legal immigrants and pay taxes, serve the economy like local residents and hence we need to be treated well. THANKS MAXXIMA

  6. thanks . yes, I have approached the local MP in person. She contacted the deanery three weeks ago. at the time, the deanery said they could not consider my circumstacnes as they were not exceptional and they would go ahead with their decision. Since then I have been in touch with the MP. Also forwarded a complaint to MMC ...they forwarded my complaint to GP recruitment . I am not quitting medicine. Was upset with all this stuff. I am going to puruse this mater till it is resolved. Thanks again for all the encouraging comments by every one
  7. yeah...that seems to be the right option at the moment. But i am also looking into other alternatives. BMA advice is that any action can be taken only after the end of second round. as withdrawal of an offer is actionable after end of all opporutnities for current recruitment. Have also had thoughts of quitting medicine altogether...but thats very difficult.....just frust ration perhaps :-/
  8. sorry, I deletd myprevious entry. ST 3post offered to me has now been offered to W/L candidate and was accepted. SO nothing available in the region now.
  9. oh yeah thats quite funny actually. they say that because I accepted a post....they will not mention on their MTAS part that they have actually withdrawn my post. as there is no such system in MTAS (the deanery part is still acessible for them)
  10. also told by dean that i will not be eligible to apply for round 2. but I stll am as I have not declined any post and all my posts offerred have been withdrawn.
  11. New development after my post of any such experiences: Mersey deanery agreed to give me psych on 20th june, only to withdraw it on the 21st june again...saying the same old thing. said this was a mistake. ha ha ha ! I have asked BMA toapproach the JDC and also seek legal advice around this issue.
  12. hi mickey, check this link which i have submitted: http://www.psychclub.com/YaBB.pl?num=1182169441 As per my situation, it is pathetic. My problem is i am stuck in the same deanery and probably the most inflexible and rigid of all deaneries in UK. However, my advise would be that accept the second job, once the confirmation of the second job is received, quietly decline the first job stating that they have sufficient time to allocate the post to someone else. Also do not clarify why you are declining the job. This is the sneaky way. The other less risky way is to get in touch with the second deanery and clarify the situation. Hopefully, if it is not mersey deanery, then things would be fine. I have a few friednds who have done this and have been successful. It is a difficult decision and best be honest. But unfortunately i was honest and now i am jobless for August. the other good side is atleast it is a psychiatry job
  13. I have posted this elsewhere too. Wanted everyones views of what I can do. I was offered GP. accepted as no other offers. then offered Psych ST 3. When I repeatedly asked Deanery to let me decline GP and accept ST3 Psych, the GP director withdrew my GP post (already accepted), gave it to a candidate in the reserve list (good for her / him) and said I am not eligible for Psychiatry or any run through post in August 2007 ! Reason: This is because I did not respond to his deadline (created by himself) and because I kept asking the Deanery questions despite him telling me nothing could be done. So I am paying for choosing GP over Psych. :'( so friends, We should all know what we want and not be confused even in insecure times, as I was. Despite this treament, the deanery responds to the BMA by saying that the Deanery was supportive to me !
