    Revising Paper B
  1. Hi all, I am trying to get hold of the 'Pass the CASC for the MRCPsych' book by Dr Seshni Moodliar which I have heard is very good. Does anyone have an old copy they would be willing to sell on?? I have searched the internet including eBay and amazon with no success! Failing that.....what other books would those who have been successful recommend? Thanks
  2. I think there was hyperreflexia so I put serotonin syndrome. You can also get high temp with that. the mock b paper says amisulpiride is best to augment with clozapine if poor treatment response but the exam asked what would be best when associated with weight gain and high cholesterol which is why I put aripiprazole
  3. I think there was a question on beneficence and non-maleficence? an EMI question
  4. I put sublimation and rationalisation too i thought aripiprazole would be added to clozapine as it was a patient with weight gain and high cholesterol melatonin acts on sleep latency serotonin syndrome
  5. There was a question on what condition was equal incidence in males and females? Options were unipolar depression, anxiety, hypochondriasis, PTSD. Anyone know the answer to this one?
  6. 1)There was a question about imaging in confused patient with pacemaker-CT head 2)schizophrenia in children -13% 3) REM sleep disorder and increased risk of LBD 4) for wernickes I put ophthalmoplegia and ataxia which I think was the answer on SPMM 5) use of melatonin 6) stop valproate in patient trying to conceive 7)crossover trial
  7. I found the exam very difficult too! Can anyone remember any of the critical appraisal/stats questions??
  8. Yes I got mine in the post today - pass mark 70.2%.
  9. What do you mean?
  10. Does anyone remember the question which was about hyperprolactinaemia and the most appropriate investigation? MRI wasn't an option but CT head, SPECT, Skull X-ray and Lumbar puncture were options - what did everyone put??
  11. Thank you for this post! Very useful
  12. Hi everyone, i am a foundation year 2 doctor, hoping to start CT1 training next year. I'm starting to look in to revising for MRCPsych paper A and finding this forum very useful for hints and tips! Anne
  13. Hi everyone, I have been considering applying to do the psychiatry MSc in Cardiff, which would run alongside CT1 training (if I manage to get a job!). I just wondered if anyone has any experience of this course, and whether it would be a beneficial qualification to have? Thank you in advance, Anne
  14. Hi everyone, I'm just looking for a bit of advice from anyone who can help! I am thinking to sign up to the online 'starter hi yeild package' SPMM course to help me with revision for MRCPsych paper A. On the website there is an option to sign up for 'paper A', 'paper A (i)' or paper A (ii). Does anyone know if I buy paper A that will include material for both i and ii?? Also, does anyone have an experience using SPMM - is it the best resource to use or are there any better ones? it does seem quite pricey! Thanks in advance Anne
