Cognitive examination approach

1 post in this topic

I had my exam yesterday in Hongkong and there was a station for cognitive examination with lobar function test...pt had left eye vision problem after stroke

we always wonder how to do the test

its all about picking up the clues

Start with asking if has any problem with vision or hearing

patient said no problems

clue...anosognosia. Point it out to the examiner ..it's a clue to focus more on parietal lobe functions after doing orientation registration recall and attention..try to elicit parietal lobe dysfunction

i  had it in my mind while examining the patient but forgot to point it out and could not complete the task due to anxiety of completing the test.
