I also enjoy wartime Germany history! I will try and get hold of Primo Levis.

Oh also, if anyone is interested, some novels based around Psychiatry are...

1) Elizabeth is Missing (dementia)

2) Shock of the Fall (schizophrenia)

3) When Mr. Dog Bites (tourette's)

I am also starting CT1 in February!

I tend to read just regular fiction. I like crime dramas like Commissario Montalbano and romantic historical fiction.

Need to unwind when I read.

History books appeal to me as history repeats itself and we can elarn and learn again.

A little off topic but there are so many great psychiatry films. What are peoples recommendations? Shutter Island and 'A beautiful mind' are two of my favourite

What a great post. I'm just coming to the end of training as an ST6 and yes, I think its very enriching to find time to read psychiatry classics, psychiatry themed novels and one's guilty pleasure reads (for me it's crime and skullduggery themed books set in the 19th century). Psychiatrywise I really enjoyed Elizabeth is missing. I would add

The Echo maker (Capgras syndrome)

The curious incident of the dog in the night time (ASD)

Engelby  - Sebastian Faulks (Schizoid PD)

Psychiatry home time reads - Shorter's history of psychiatry is a good read and definitely provided a few marks in paper A as a bonus.

Cracked -  Why Psychiatry is doing more harm than good by Dr James Davies

I would recommend reading this

Hi. I've recently read an interesting book by Coreean author Han Kang. It's called The Vegetarian, very interestingly writen and plenty of psychopathology. Makes you think about formulation. Would recommend it!
