Posted October 31, 2007 addenbrooks is the general hospital...there is an eating disorder unit, liaison and psych of old age there but the likelihood is that it is just the venue and you will probably get general psych cases from nearby fulbourn hospital (the psych hospital)...the SpRs' and consultants are nice and are unlikely to suggest any cases that are out of your everyday experiencegood luck

Posted October 31, 2007 don't panic...and that is a general rule to anyone going anywhere in Ireland for clinics...there really aren't any/many specialist centers so patients will be bog-standard stuffthe accents may be your biggest problem...so in your introduction to your patient, explain this is a BIG IMPORTANT exam for you and that you may have to ask them questions again to make sure you get the right info and perhaps have to slow them down so you can get everything down...do a lot of summarising in your history takingdrug, treatments are all pretty much the same...only main difference I can really think of is that patients may not be that clued in about their admission status...you are either usually there voluntarily or notALCOHOL is a big problem and way of life...so they may say they have no problem with drink but do ask for more detailGalway is a lovely place...try and make a weekend out of it if your clinic is on friday...good seafoodthe only other thing is try and stay close to the center...traffic is ireland is generally pretty badgood luck...the luck of the Irish will be with you
