Irish clinical exam

5 posts in this topic

I'm looking for information about Irish OSCE. There is very little information on their website.

Any one knows eligibility criteria for outside Ireland experience to sit for this exam apart from completing basic training in Ireland?

I  presume you have seen http://www.irishpsychiatry.ie/Postgrad_Training/BSTClinicalExamination.aspx

Its a new exam, still in phase 1

"In Phase 1, its current format, Trainees will continue to be required to complete the written components of the Royal College of Psychiatrists MRCPsych Exam. In addition, they will be required to complete the College of Psychiatrists of Ireland Clinical Exam. The Clinical Exam will consist of the following:
(A) CFME (Clinical Formulation and Management Examination)
(B) OSCE (Objective Structured Clinical Examination)"

I would just contact the Irish college and explain whatever situation you're in

Yeah, this website came up in google search. I did write to the email given on the website, but have not received any reply. I can understand why. I am doing RANZCP training and have passed the written and completed basic training. I am sure this is not the situation they would have thought of, when I asked them if I would be eligible to sit for their OSCE based on RANZCP exams?

Also I am not sure if this OSCE is for only trainess in Ireland?

Currently it is open only for cerain group of trainees in Ireland: current BST trainees, ie, those who started training in Ireland on or after July 2011 and will remain this way for sometime.. I thing it will be reasonable if I said for few years.
