Consultant psychiatrist returning from Australia, need guidance

3 posts in this topic

Having gained MRCPsych in 1991 in Leeds, I moved to Australia where I have been a consultant/ clinical director for over 20 years in Melbourne.  I have FRCPsych & FRANZCP. I am back in the UK with my family and now finding it difficult to navigate through the maze of GMC requirements.  I do have GMC registration with right to practice, however, according to the guidelines, I do not qualify for specialist registration and need to fullfill tedious higher training requirements.  To me this seems absurd.

Can anyone offer any guidance?

Appreciate it.

I will be completing FRANZCP training by end of next year in NZ. I wrote to RCPsych UK and they advised me to apply to GMC via cesr what was called article 14 in the past. There is no direct equivalence. Can I ask your reasons for wanting to return back?
