Locums in Psychiatry Prior to Training

3 posts in this topic

Hi I've completed FY2 and am taking a year out before applying to psychiatry for August 2018. I am hoping to locum in psychiatry during this 'FY3' year but I'm aware some training programmes don't like trainees to have too much experience before entering training. Would there be any problem with this?

Thanks!

If you plan to take a break, take it,

a year locum should not be a problem,

I have known many who have done a good length of locum before taking SHO training rotation those days, 2003,.,.,.

I don’t think it’s a problem.

I personally applied for training when I had worked for 3 years and was selected.
