Essay Course, few last-minute places available

2 posts in this topic

Just to let you know that there a few places available on the Cambridge MRCPsych Essay Day course this Saturday (25th February).

If interested please contact:

Sarah Devereux - Course administrator - 01223 218895

The cost is £150 and the day covers many aspects of essay writing including essay planning, use of references, writing paragraphs and a practice paper.  There are also several examples of essays worked through the day.  I would suggest that it would be particularly (though not exclusively) useful where English is not a first language or for people who haven't written any essays for many years.  The day is run by a Cambridge SpR (me) and an English teacher.

[ Just to make this clear - this posting is by way of advertising remaining places and not an impartial recommendation as I am one of the organizers of the course ]

adverse childhood experience and future mood disorder and PD

not such a difficult essay sounds daunting initially

id tackle it with a decent introduction on the basis that there is evidence that exposure to social and family disadvantages in childhood is a risk factor for the future dev of psychaitric illness.. will focus on depression and personality disorder..

Newcastle thousand family study Multiple family disadvantages in childhood substantially increase the risk of suffering a major depressive disorder in adulthood. Such disadvantages include family or marital relationship instability, a combination of poor mothering and poor physical care, and a combination of dependence on social welfare and overcrowding. For females major depression was linked in particular to the quality of parenting in early life. Could poss look at issues of poverty here as well as a determinant of mental health?
