9. DNA has codons for intron, exon and RNA

10. Transcriptosomes are collections of transcribed DNA.

11. Heterozygous autosomal dominance can lead to a variable penetrance

12. Biological rather than adopted parents of an adopted schizophrenic have more affective illness [depression]

13.Most people with 47XYY do not have behavioural problems .

14.Aggression is over represented in 47XYY.

15.Behavioural problems is mostly genetic in adopted children

Behaviorial problem is not due to genetic reasons in majority of adopted kids.

Behaviour is most affected by the enviornmental circumstances although genetic component is also there but its too hard to pin point at this stage that every adoptee if he or she shows behavioural problem that is due to genetic reasons.

1) F autosomal recessive

2)T

3) F I am struggling to find a good definition but I think it is the area BETWEEN the coding regions ie introns and mRNA

8)T

14T

17 F i think. Children of alcoholics have a 4x incresed risk

3.

Restriction fragment length polymorphisms are the only way to examine genetic linkage FALSE

Check this out: http://users.rcn.com/jkimball.ma.ultranet/BiologyPages/R/RFLPs.html

Not that I understood much of it ???, but it gives you an idea...roughly.

So, I think 3. is false. And

2. seems to be true.

4. TRUE-

6. FALSE All (?) you need to know about fragile X :

http://www.conquerfragilex.org/what_is_fragile_x.html

7. TRUE

The current view is that any link between 47XYY and criminality is tenuous. Men with additional Y chromosomes tend to be of above average height and low normal intelligence. It may be that their disproportionate presence in high security areas is a response of judges to convicted offenders who are tall and of below average intelligence.

Ref: AN INTRODUCTION TO LEARNING DISABILITY PSYCHIATRY (2000) EDITORS: Meera Roy, David Clarke Ashok Roy

8. FALSE Ref: Ratcliffe 1994

12. Biological rather than adopted parents of an adopted schizophrenic have more affective illness [depression]

TRUE

Kendler et al 1993: Lifetime risk of all affective illness in first degree relative of probands with schizophrenia is 24.9% … OTP pg 349.

13. Most people with 47XYY do not have behavioural problems

??False

IQ may be very slightly lower, on avg than normal population, which may account in small part for the general increase in behavioural problems in this group.

2. Restriction fragment length polymorphisms are inherited in a Mendelian fashion

FALSE

I'm not sure on this but it appears false as RFLPs are used in Crime Ix and for paternity testing.....

Help! ???
