I think they are all true. identifying with the aggressor is also a defence mechanism ( i stand to be corrected)

The following are all defence mechanisms..

( * ) are by ann freud.

Compensation.:

( uncon./ conc. ): make up for perceived defences in oneself.

Conversion:

( formerly called hysteria ): physical symptoms produced by unconscious psychological stress.

* Undoing:

similar to reaction formation. Neutralization of unacceptable behaviour by some counteraction.

* Projection:

crap in yourself which you deny but project in others.

Projective identification:

i.d w/ projected aspects of yourself.

Intellectualisation:

(similar to rationalization ), avoid emotion.

* Isolation:

separate from affect

* Introjection:

external objects into yourself.

lack of awareness for an objective reality.

Displacement:

redirect of attitude from primary object to a more accepetable .( similar to isolation )
