Frontal lobe assessment can be easily done using a bedside battery...

Called the Frontal assessment battery (FAB)

It consists of 6 tests..

1. Similarities ( table/chair; car/bicycle; rose/tulip: tests conceptualisation)

2. Word fluency ( FAS: tests ability to categorise)

3. Luria 3 step ( tests motor programming)

4. Go- no go ( tests inhibitory control) I tap once, you tap once; i tap twice, you dont tap...

5. conflicting instructions ( tests sensitivity to interference) I tap once, you tap twice and vice versa

6. Prehension behaviour (environmental autonomy) - loks for grasp reflex

Other tests would be the WCST, tower of london, trail B, digit backward etc...

Physical examination - reveals motor weakness, brocas aphasia, et al...
