Bizarre electric current

27 posts in this topic

This happenned to me yesterday.

As I was cooking in my kitchen, I felt a tiny electric current when i touched electric appliances at times. The wierd thing was it happenned only to my right ring finger!!

I thought the earthing was fautly but why doesnt it affect the other 9 fingers.

I examined my finger closely -- no cut/bruise. No h/o trauma that I remember.

Any psychiatrists with special interest in electricals out there??

Very good point tilia.

I do wear a ring in that very finger but I have felt the current with and without the ring.

Does that mean the ring leaves a particular 'field' around my finger.

And what is the solution?

i too have experienced this kind of thing When in college.

while testing the heat of water with a immersion heater(coil) in a bucket.

well it was not my ring finger but it was a finger which had a small cut.

in your case i think it should be a very minuite injury?

maybe someone is thinking about you ::)

congrats on passing MRCPsych-1

what sort of clothing were you wearing when that happened?

it very much looks like 'static electricity' to me..

can you believe that this phenomenon generates tens of thousands of volts?

very interesting indeed..

princescorpio thank you for your 'intelligent ' solution.

rddoc, i was wearing cotton clothes. nothing unusual! I think its static too coz it no longer happens. Probably as trinity opined, i must have had a tiny wound which has now healed.

Princescorpio,

i think it would be better if we avoid making judgements about other s messages. You have the choice to avoid a thread if it sounds bizarre! What seems stupid to you could be a matter of great concern for me. No hard feelings mate. Take care. Brainbox. ;)

Hi mate Brainbox,

I have not made any judgements about your comments at all cause there is nothing to judge there, if you know what I mean!

And when you say I have a choice to AVOID a thread, I also have a choice to read and answer the thread. So u see when you are on a public forum, yu must be cautious to what you post. You just cant post some thrash to read and expect others not to react to it.

cheers BRAINBOX!!

Sounds like staic current as you felt only in one finger.

Most earthed appliances can hold static current

Injury to ulnar nerve ( Subcutaneous ) at the elbow can cause this but may not be localised

:o

this is all so interesting, a guy called brainbox cooking one fine day and he gets an electric shock- only to his right ring finger, then he uses his medical knowledge and realises that this is bizzare(at least for himself) and posts a thread on the web!!

somehow this looks like Einstein just before he cracked E= mc square

wt u going to find out brainbox, a new nerve suplying only the right ring finger exclusively called the 'brainbox nerve'

this is all so comical!
