Part II ISQ Club - Child Psychiatry

43 posts in this topic

Part II ISQs on two topics will be posted twice a week. You are encouraged to post a reply in the thread, stating whether you think an ISQ is true or false and why (eg. a short explanation, with reference to the textbook you used). Please only deal with one ISQ in each post and include the question as the first line of your post. All ISQs are taken from previous posts by Forum members.

In a few days this ISQ Club thread will be moved to the Question Bank board. If you submit an answer, your status will be changed to 'Question Bank member' and you will be able to see the Question Bank board. Please allow up to 48 hours for this change to happen.

3. In Down's syndrome autism is rare

FALSE pg 606 Comp to Psych Studies

I believe the intent of the question is to demonstrate an awareness that a study has indicated that in Down's syndrome there seems to be an increased risk of autism.

Answer to Mark:

Nr 4 has to be false bacause iv urogram is indicated if the enuresis is secondary, in which case u suspect urodynamic issues.

I guess at least.

another answer to mark-

by defination, enueresis already excludes physical causes and all phy. causes should have been ruled out b4 the diagnosis is made...

therefore, sec. enueresis is not an ind. for IVP IVU etc all these should have been done already.

the incidence of reading disabilities in the 1980s was particularly low in the East Asian countries — Japan, China and Korea. It is hardly possible to attribute this fact to the idea that the brain structures of these people are better equipped than those of the Westerner, and adherents of the medical model therefore maintain that this phenomenon should be attributed to the difference in writing systems between the East Asians and Westerners. 14 'socialized conduct disorder (F91.2), peer relationships are normal'

from Oxford Textbook psychiatry and ICD10 but I am not clear if this refers to the peers that they conduct their antisocial behaviour with or their non deviant peers. certainly children with unsocialised conduct disorder are unpopular.
