Part II ISQ Club - Child Psychiatry

29 posts in this topic

30 Part II ISQs on two topics will be posted twice a week. You are encouraged to post a reply in the thread, stating whether you think an ISQ is true or false and why (eg. a short explanation, with reference to the textbook you used). Please only deal with one ISQ in each post and include the question as the first line of your post. All ISQs are taken from previous posts by Forum members.

In a few days this ISQ Club thread will be moved to the Question Bank board. If you submit an answer, your status will be changed to 'Question Bank member' and you will be able to see the Question Bank board. Please allow up to 48 hours for this change to happen.

6. OCD is more common in people with LD.

Hard question. According to Gaskell Seminars in LD, there is a significant increase in ritualistic behaviours in general and in certain specific disorders (e.g Rett's). Also in some cases (e.g ASD) there is an increase in obsessional themes. Nevertheless, in this population, it is practically impossible to assess the true rate of OCD due to problems defining the obsessional component of the thought and the 'urge' component of the compulsion.

At 1st glance the answer is probably TRUE, but I think its FALSE with regards OCD as defined in ICD10.

I hate what MCQs do my mind...
