can anyone help me on the subject of ' relevance of evidence based practice in clinical psychiatry'.thanx

As I understand it, this question is asking about what evidence based medicine is and how we blend research results with clinical experience. In the past we used very little evidence based practice- oiur work was less informed by current research. However, to slavishly follow the 'evidence', much of which is flawed or carried out on patients or in services that do not resemble our own can also be foolish.

Evidence base can help create guidlines and audit BUT guidelines are not protocol. We must value our clinical acumen too

i agree! it's only since WWII that there's been an explosion in EBM. it's very important when it leads to guidelines, because you are obliged to follow them. if you dont, you need to justify why.
