Has anyone heard of someone dual training in Child and Child psychotherapy?

I would love to do this but am quite baffled as to how I would go about it...

HI

I am aware its been a,long time since you posted this message.Anyway thought write some thing.each Spr rotation has its own policies and when it comes to mine whioch is yorkshire,it is very difficult to get on to a regular once a week programme. The reason being the time it takes up out of the clinical work.If one is willing to do it outside clinical time and study budget allowing ,can do a long term training course.

Not aware of a dual training post that clubs Psychotherapy,so might be hard to get one.

cheers

Ram

Hi

I'm sure this topic was discussed a while back, but I can't find it now.

Anyway, I met an SpR a while back who came to Liverpool as a part of the CAPSAC team. She had completed her C&A Psychiatry SpR training and was now an SpR in Psychotherapy in Manchester.

As far as I'm aware, there are no dual C&A + Psychotherapy post, you would have to do it seperately.

The other option might be that you could do some courses (run by Tavistock clinic I think) for 1 day a week and could get a diploma or similar degree by 3-4 years. This way it finishes early (instead of doing 2 Spr training rotation), and you would have the degree almost at the same time you finish your SpR training. Liverpool university offers a course in Psychoanalytic child observational studies.

Cheers.

Hello!

You could chech it out on the Tavi website

www.tavi-port.org

(yes it is NHS, do not focus on the org...)

there are many many courses on different levels and many seem promising...

Good luck! ;)
