Non taxable pay taxed

Hi

just noticed in my pay slip thay my non taxable pay (travel claim and rent allowance)

has been taxed unlike the previous month. >:(

has anyone one gone through this headache.

can it be recovered in next monts pay

whom to contact???

Contact payroll- usually they rectify. Do u file tax returrns? Inland revenue will pay u back, if the payroll don't do it now

Absolutely

the small prints and abbreviations, its irritating

I can't get my head around the pay slip.

i've just not looked at it many times.

what is rent allowance? is it the amount deducted for using hospital accomodation? and is it really non-taxable? would appreciate if Trinity can clarify.

My trust pays travel miles upto £500 a month or £500 can be claimed towards rent if you are renting a house nearby.

Eh? What's the catch? Trusts don't just pay everyone's rent!

I talke to this lady at the payroll

she was point blank that the expenses will be taxed.

i could not get any further with her and it turned out to be the chick and the egg thing.

i was not taxed the previous month.

what next :-/

Travel expenses should be tax-free. Mine are - it specifically states on the payslip 'not taxable'.

Not sure about rent allowances though - I've never heard of Trusts paying people's rent - how did you manage that?

some how the trust i work have a custom of reimbursing rent.

i thought it was a incentive to lure SHO's when these posts were not that popular.

i'm sure its not going to be for a longtime.
