Declaration when submitting MTAS application

5 posts in this topic

The declaration you have to make when submitting the application states, among other things, that you will accept any training opportunity offered, in accordance with Good Medical Practice. How do you feel about making this declaration before you have seen the terms and conditions of any job offer?

Does anyone have any instinct whether making the declaration would be regarded by the GMC as having formally accepted a post, and hence if you sign the declaration might you be censured if you accept a training opportunity but then reject the subsequent job offer because the T&Cs associated with the job offer are unworkable in your particular cicumstances? Or would the GMC only regard you as having formally accepted the post when you return your signed contract of employment?

Only once you have accepted a particular contract I would imagine. After all, even though they are putting us through this crap, they still can't force you to take up a post against your will. That definitely would contravene the European Human Rights bill!

Well seems the level of worries is different

Mines are to get a job anywhere and worry later about terms and conditions. I am not that privileged !!

What's the notice period for ST post? You could always accept the offer, then hand in your notice prior to actually starting if they insist on it.

Good Medical practice says that one should give ample time for the employer to find an alternative if you chose not to take up the post.  Time for notice varies - 1 to 3 months.
