prepared to take FTSTA?

2 posts in this topic

Sorry if this was covered elsewhere, but I was discussing pros and cons of ticking box re prepared to accept FTSTA?

If we say we are, does it make it appear we are not committed to ST or ...

If we say we aren't, do we lose a chance if we don't make ST.

Discussing with a colleague, he says he may not tick the box as he has a theory that they will take all those who are prepared to take FTSTA in a pile and give them FTSTA, and the others will get those treasured ST posts.

PS: Best of luck to all, we really need to make the duffer press and public of UK aware of our horrific situation...

(PS: before I am accused of being Jade like, I was born and bred in London.)

Some of the strongest candidates for the jobs are going to tick the FTSTA box. Does your friend really believe that a deanery is going to ignore their applications and give a ST post to someone who they judge to be less suitable? No chance.

I would have thought if anything ticking the box shows you are more committed to psychiatry because why else would you want to take a potentially dead end job? You would have to be dedicated to want one.
