ST3 or ST2????

4 posts in this topic

I will have 36 months of experience by August 2007 and have my part 1. I have been told that some people are applying for ST2 even if they have their part 1 as they fall within the time-scale specification. As there are more posts at ST2 I am thinking about applying at this level. Are there any draw backs to this???

you should apply to proper level,I think you have got part-1,you should apply st3,don't look that there are plenty of jobs,it is not matter of job,you have to explain why u are applying to lower level.

Would agree with above, given your length of experience and the fact you have the exam you should apply at ST3. Your chances at ST2 would be minimal because they will see that you are a much closer fit for ST3 specifications.

The Person Specification for ST3 states that you should have: At least 24 months’ experience but less than 48 months’ experience (at SHO level) in this specialty (not including Foundation modules) by August 2007

You fulfill this criteria. Go for ST3.
