New MRCpsych curriculum 2008

2 posts in this topic

The new curriculum which is out now, makes me wonder ,how one would  be elgible to take the exams ,if not in a training post (St).

For doctors not having the privilege to get on to st system, how will this work? in terms of career progression. Especialy for staff grades ,trust grades who still havent completed their part2 and but want to hang to their kushy jobs.

can someone comment?

It sounds to me like they are creating a breed of extended SHO's in the name of ST. It indermines the specialty training.

The old way gave 3 yrs for the trainee to learn the specialty after the exams- i mean old age / C&A / Psychotherapy / Forensic / GA / LD. This one makes the trainee learn critical appraisal much later and still keep working on exams which is general - so when does a trainee get to work on higher specialty??

How on earth are they going train people in higher specialties??
