New MRCPsych Exam - Volunteers Needed for Pilot

The College is recruiting volunteers to test sample questions for the new MRCPsych Paper 3. This is a standard setting and reliability exercise. Applicants must have passed the MRCPsych within the last 18 months to qualify.

The paper will be held in London on Monday 2nd July 2007 from 10.30-12.00. A sandwich lunch will be served at the end of the examination. Travel expenses will be reimbursed in line with College regulations.

What is Paper 3 about? and what's the format?

Will I lose my MRCPsych if I fail the exam?? ;)

last time they did a pilot in edinburgh

only 2 out of the 10 people registered actually turned up

so the exminers acted as candidates

Attended a talk yesterday by Dinesh Bhugra.

Apparently they've collated questions from the Australian and Canadian psychiatry exams and want to pilot them here before introducing them in the mainstream.

sat the paper 3 yesterday

mixed feelings really...

no essay writing good

no paper to appraise..

no isqs..instaed mcqs, choose best 1 out of five rather than true or false

emis..similiar to what we had, the ones about critical appraisal were particularly good

they were expecting 100 people to come. only 28 registered and less than 20 turned up

they are holding the pilot in manchester soon
