Exam eligibility paper 1 and 2 - Fuming

11 posts in this topic

Gah!

I[ch8217]ve called the college, I[ch8217]ve e-mailed and yet I keep getting confusing info!..And today ...a nice, but not very knowing lady agreed it[ch8217]s a pickle but almost everyone who could help me is on leave!

X-mass is around the corner and I[ch8217]ll be really pissed off if I spend all my time studying only to find out that I can[ch8217]t take the exam this February!!!So...send your application in any way is not very helpful advice.

On-line guidance says 12m approved training by the time of sitting. The e-mail I[ch8217]ve got says 12months by the time of APPLYING. I[ch8217]ve done all the assessments; I[ch8217]ve done 6m general adult from Feb 2007-August 2007 and 6m old age from August 2007-Feb 2008.I am an ST1.

Please, has anyone in a similar situation gotten any concise information regarding eligibility to sit paper 1 in Feb 2008?

And, paper 2.WTF?! is it 12 or 18m experience that[ch8217]s required? Could I give that a shot too in Feb 2008?

For what it is worth, Huntress, it always used to be that you had to have had the experience by the date of the written paper.

Talked to a guy on the phone who seemed to know his stuff. They seem to be harbouring the delusion that their web page info is crystal clear..!

The gist is:

ST2s can sit the exam.

ST1s can[ch8217]t. Even if they have previous SHO experience (although previous experience does count?!).[ch8217]Cramming[ch8217] a year[ch8217]s worth of assessments in 6 months was pointless. They HAVE to be spread over 12 months to [ch8216]count[ch8217] (guy on the phone almost told me off for getting it all done in 6 months).

I quit.

Spoke to a lady at the college -- Not elgible !!!!!!  That's it . This matter has already been discussed with the Top levels.

If i want , i can write to the Assoscciate Dean.

My friend was adviced to 'apply anyway'. The 'kind' ladys Supervisor is on leave for 2 weeks & she cannot do much about it . Funny part is that closing date is on 11/01.

INFERENCE ----Elgible only in Nov 08.  :-X

You could check with the college but I was previously told that if you are found to be ineligible, you get your money back, so I guess you could try?

It is not the question of money (although it is important), it is the time & hardwork involved at this point of the year when applications are going to be out.

If one has started preparing & paid the course fees & hears it is not possible to give exams, it will be frustrating !! (passing / failing is a different issue ).

Defnitely the guidelines in the College website / phone is not clear.

Good thing is now i can concentrate on my applns.

No worries / complaints !!!!

I had the same problem, by Feb 08 I would have done 5+6+3 months training posts. However I am still not eligible despite the fact that 12 months training posts is what the regulations says. The people I spoke to at the College told me the 12 or more months should be in 4 or 6 months batches:4+4+4 or 6+6 etc. The rules according to them are totally inflexible but I truly wonder what is inflexible, the rules or their understanding.

im in the same boat

got 6+6 months of exp. by feb 08 and the 1st 6months was ST PILOT .

got call today saying im ineligible even though i finished wpba in the first 6 months. they said cant take paper 1 until i finish 12 months from aug 07 .the earliest i can take is nov 08.

they say i can use the initial 6 months for paper 3 but if i were to go by the roster for this year i would any way be able to take paper3 and casc only in spring 2010 which means the first 6 months i did prior to starting st1 is pointless .

sending letter to associate dean tommorow. >:( >:(

I am in the similar position.I got a call this morning from the examination department and the lady told me that 'I am ineligible for the paper 1'.

I have done 6 months of gen adult psychiatry-as SHO starting from feb 07.I got on to the ST 1 from August 07.I thought I had done enough of home work and enquiries before appying to the exams...well, I was wrong.

I guess they should`nt have mentioned the clause of carrying the 6 months 0r 4 months of previous experience at all in the first place to confuse every body out here....

hello all,

i am in same boat as well ,

i even got emails from one of the specialist managers in college saying that i am elligible for feb 08 paper1 ,

i forwarded the emails they are covering them selves saying that e mails are dated 11.12.07 and the rules have changed on 20.12.07,

so we all can take paer 1in nov 08 and we need to wait 1 year that is till nov 2009 to give paper 2 as paper 2 needs 2 cbds + 4 mini aces spread out in 12 months in ST2 /3 level ,

so we can complete it by aug 09 and latest date after that is nov 2009 ,

any ideas about this or am i mistaken ?

thanks

goin on what shank said

eligibility for paper2 is atleast 18 months which means we could take the paper 2 earlier than nov 09

but again they have mentioned wpba to be spread out over 12 months duration at st2 level

so then is it 18 months or 24 months before we can take paper 2?

info is confusing
