Examination Paper Writing Panels

Surprised?.....NO

Surely the panels already has questions...i want to believe.

I think they just want to get SpRs into the panels and get more questions for the bank.

I am rather more surprised that they have a cumbersome procedure to make an application and expect to be paid around £500 in the process. I wonder whether anybody will take it up!!!

Hope to get some sensible questions from this time, unlike before where it was impossible to get to conclusion regarding some answers.

Nick,

The application was a wrong one ( which quoted £500 as fee). Now its been updated.

Oh Thank God. We can hope to get some good questions then.

Is this a single post or a few SpR/STs are going to be appointed?

Does anyone know?

I think it is entirely sensible to continue to write questions.

The evidence base is continually changing.

Important guidelines - including NICE - are reguarly updated.

There are also DSM V and ICD 11 on the horizon.

Have you also considered that the recruitment process is for people to write questions for a question bank, but that these questions may not be used until exams in the autumn of 2008 or even until 2009.

In addition the college probably has a large question bank which SpRs will be well suited to comment whether the question is ambiguous, or the answer wrong or controversial.

Good luck with the exam.

They must be having to adapt the current ISQs in the question bank to best of five, I would think. They haven't trialed any best of five from other sources to my knowledge (there was a rumour that they were going to buy some in from somewhere, eg USA but I doubt they could use them without validating them first) and they can't produce a whole new bank of questions from scratch in the time that has been available. That's my guess, anyway.

Although wasn't the exam originally a BOF type exam? I would imagine they are able to recycle a lot of the old questions and update them.

I think the college may take the questions from old mrcpsych exam true / false

They weren't any more relevant than the ones we are used to. They were 5 true/false MCQs around a common stem...not best of five at all.

I have an interview for this...is any one able to advise on what questions they may ask?

I think they may ask why you applied for this, what are your ideas and experience in developing questions etc
