Which is the best drug to treat psychosis in people with parkinson's diseasel.

I remember reading both Quetiapine and Clozapine. But we need to know the best answer. dont we??

i guess bit more elaboration of question might be expected in exam.

depending on question and choices given -include quetiapine and clozapine,i would go for quetiapine first ,as clozapine is drug of choice for treatment resistant psychosis/schizo

i remember seeing similar question in exam..

the other oprtion given was old generation antipsychotic, the other misleading options have been anticholinesteraces etc.

i ruled out old generation antipsychotic -because of guidlines atypical need to be first choice and i ruled out clozapine on the reason mentioned above.the remaining was one of the usual atypical antipsychotic.

I think the answer is quetiapine.

As far as I can remember, this question was asked last time.

I would go for clozapine. the question is the best drug and not the first line. anyway, Nice said Atypical antipsychotics may be considered, although the evidence base for their efficacy and safety is limited.

Clozapine may be used for treating psychotic symptoms.

The answer in my opinion is Clozapine.

The source: Catie study, of course.

Clozapine to shown to cause the least amount of EPSE.

What i mean is previously I only saw psychology, psychopharmacology, neurology etc on the paper 2 breakdown of topics but i didn't notice that general adult is included. anyway maybe i should also cover paper 1 materials excluding psychopathology

I think bison, the college might not follow the exact split-up of topics. If you take Psychology for eg. there is no clear cut info as to what is basic and what is advanced.

So i need to read a bit about the topics for paper 1 as you might get few questtions from it. u will never know !!

I think that will hold for all the topics.
