hi,

could some one tell me the equivalent doses of all the oral anti-psychotics with relation to Chlorpromazine?

any effort is well appreciated.

Aripiprazole 15mg = Aripiprazole 15 mg

Olanzapine 10 mg = Olanzapine 10 mg

Risperidone 4mg = Risperidone 4 mg

Haloperidol 5mg = Haloperidol 5 mg

Clozapine 200 mg = Clozapine 200 mg

Quetiapine 300 mg = Quetiapine 300 mg

Anyone can continue my stellar effort!

yup... equivalent doses of oral anti-psychotics is in the BNF under anti-psychotic drugs....

Chlorpromazine 100mg

Clozapine 50mg

Haloperidol 2-3mg

Pimozide 2mg

Risperidone 0.5-1mg

Sulpiride 200mg

Thioridazine 100mg

Trifluoperazine 5mg

The above is jus a quick-note from BNF. But it wud be advisable that one goes thro the BNF before administering any.

equivalency according to CPZ dosing is only considered standard for typical antipsychotics... I dont know if it is considered to be accurate enough for atypicals....

Quite different from that quoted in the BNF... atleast for risperidone in this case...

A lot of equivalence doses are from a research point of view, and different studies give different equivalences...

absolutely!

but at the same time, it wud be more helpful to have a standardised measure that most agree on!

as said, looking at it more pragmatically, equivalency according to CPZ dosing to be considered standard for typical antipsychotics is more acceptable. and also risperidone 0.5mg is very less when compared. but i think BNF doses are usually considered safe and we also see that higher doses are given in practice.... so probably we shud titre according to the patient's needs, whilst someone brings in a revised format! ;)

maybe a gud one for further research or meta-analysis!!
